Family Jewels reviews!

Wow! My story, Family Jewels, has just won it's first award. From Just Erotic Romance Reviews I got the coveted GOLD STAR AWARD! woooohooooooooooo! And from Fallen Angel Reviews I got 5 Angels. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to pieces. It means so much to know I've done good and people really like this story.

I guess I could say I'm an "award winning author" now. That sounds so pretentious... but it's true.

Thrilling!

Jokes

I love jokes. Especially really cute ones like this one that a friend sent me today. Really made me giggle!
------------------------------------
An E-version of the Birds and Bees

A little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"

The father answers: "Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. ThenI set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to do a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we realized that neither one of us had used a firewall, and by then it was too late to hit the delete button. Nine months later a blessed little Pop-Up appeared and said: You've Got Male!"

Aren't you dying from laughter??? I sure was! Here's another one, a little on the crude side and I sure hope nobody from West VA is taking this the wrong way:

West Virginia Army Boys

Two Army boys, Leroy & Jasper, from the hills of West Virginia were promoted right from Privates to Sergeants because of their great marksmanship with rifles.

Not long after, they're out for a walk and Leroy says, "Hey, Jasper, there's the NCO Club. Let's you and me stop in."

"But we's Privates," protests Jasper.

"We's sergeants now," says Leroy, pulling him inside. "Now, Jasper, I'm a gonna sit down and have me a drink."

"But we's Privates," insists Jasper.

"Are you blind, boy?" asks Leroy, pointing at his stripes. "We's Sergeants now, so hush your mouth!"

They have their drinks and pretty soon a hooker comes up to Leroy. "You're cute," she says, "and I'd like to date you, but I've got a bad case of gonorrhea."

Leroy pulls his friend to the side and whispers, "Jasper, go look in the dictionary and see what gonorrhea means. If it's okay, give me the okay sign."

So Jasper goes to look it up, comes back and gives Leroy the big okay sign.

Three weeks later Leroy is laid up in the infirmary with a terrible case of gonorrhea. "Jasper," he says, "why did you give me the okay sign?"

"Well Leroy, in the dictionary, it says gonorrhea affects only the privates" He points to his stripes. "But we's Sergeants now!"

What happened to February?

It's gone. *poof* Just like that, the whole month of February is GONE. I thought when I quit work last September that time would slow down...just a wee bit. But it seems I'm more busy now than before, for some strange reason. The only good thing is that I am getting a lot of writing done. I've begun the rewriting of an old novel that I began in 1998 - before I knew what I was doing. It's another contemporary erotic western romance, titled "Mustang". The rewrite is tougher than I thought it would be, despite having the story part completed (well, sort of, it's rough). When you re-read something you wrote a long time ago, you realize the internal problems and must go in and fix them. The problem begins with the first fixing...it leads to more doors opening up inside the story and of course, as a curious writer, you follow them inside and then WHAM!--the story begins to change. But, I am liking this story more and more each day. It deals with the wild mustangs that roam our west, a history I'm passionate about. The characters, Sylvia Velasquez-a professor of equine sciences at U of AZ, and Kyle Montgomery-wounded ex-Marine/Cowboy, are so real to me. And they sizzle together!! Needless to say, I'm having a lot of fun with this story.

So now it's March. Spring *might* be right around the corner. I have seen those crazy robins in our yard already since last month. They're living off the frozen wild apples that still hang from the gnarly tree beside the pond in my backyard. Plus, my horses are shedding already, even though we're still in the 20's with lots of snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed both the robins and the equines are right about that!

Vacation's all I ever wanted...

It's vacation time! Every year during winter, my dh and I head out to Deer Valley, Utah for skiing. Ahhhh....lovely! It's cold but SUNNY here and I love it. Our condo sits at 8500 feet elevation. Altitude is a consideration as is the very dry air. The snow is in excellent condition this year too. Plus, this week is the Sundance Film Festival - a growing and popular event here. There are lots of "stars" everywhere too, which is really fun to see. On Sunday night, we sat at a table across from Nick Nolte and his wife. [yes, he was sober!]. Yesterday, we were leaving a local restaurant when Lea Thompson walked in. She's still cute and young looking. I hear that Matt Damon is around somewhere, but I haven't seen him yet. In year's past we've seen Cheech Marin, Victoria Principal, Ethan Hawke & Uma Thurman (when they were still a couple), Peter Weller (RoboCop), Elle McPherson, Tony Danza, and my personal favorite - Slash, the wild guitarist from Guns n Roses.

I'll keep my eyes open for more sightings, and let ya'll know who's here. ;o)

My favorite bitch-topic...

Yeah, it's the weather! I complain - okay...I BITCH, about it alot. Michigan is so not a fair weather state. Today, it's snowing again. Windy. COLD. Makes me want to hibernate indoors under the heated blankie, eat cookies and just get fat! And I hate that feeling. I'm a really active - fair weather - girl. In the last six weeks, we've had exactly 2.5 days of sunshine. Sheez, talk about depressing. :o(

So, a friend of mine sent me some x-rated cartoons to cheer me up. They worked. Some of them are downright hysterical! I'm adding them here to brighten my gloomy winter day.

New Year - New Project

Started something new last week, a novella titled "Solar Flare". It's a soft-SciFi, and of course its erotic romance! So far I'm really pleased with how easy the characters are coming to me, they feel very natural and comfortable within the setting - which is pure imagination. So much FUN.

Happy Birthday to my cp, Barbara Karmazin on Jan.13, and to my friend, Janet E. Jones, on Jan.15! Hope you both enjoy many many MORE.

Updates

Geezus! Where does the time go? It's now been more than 1 1/2 months since I last blogged here. My bad... Hubby finished his business in Ohio early and we returned just in time for the really nasty cold weather and snow to set in. Do I need to say I'm not enjoying it even if it is Christmas time? I'm NOT enjoying it! The snow makes riding outside difficult, and my horse is so friggin' bored with the indoor arena. But, we did manage to take the dogs for a long run in the white stuff yesterday. Here's a pic - I took the liberty of doctoring it for the season. LOL! The girls sure had fun and I will admit it felt good to get some exercise after I warmed up a bit.

Writing news: Family Jewels is in final edit mode (mine) after excellent crits from my trusted CP's. I submitted queries to 2 agents and 1 editor. Got a reply back from 2 agents!!!! Yay! I'll send out the requested material by snail-mail on Monday. I'm still hoping that the 1 editor is just busy with the season and will still reply back after the "holidaze" settles down. Will let you all know if/when that happens. Would be so cool!!!!!!!!!!

Now that FJ is pretty much done and out the door, my muse has been exploring new stories. I had a brain blast the other night for my paranormal, Heaven's Warrior, so that might be an option. Or, I might start something totally new. The New Year and all it's unwritten glory beckons. ;o)

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
